14 Day Romance Challenge – Day 3
Day 3 of my Romance Challenge was all about showing appreciation for your significant other. Of course I appreciate him, but as I thought about it, I wondered if he knew that? We tell each other that we love each other every day but I wonder if after a while if even that doesn’t become part of a routine.
So the question I asked myself was how could I show him how much I appreciated him. Lots of ideas went through my head. Bake him the cookies he loves? Pizza? It’s his favorite food. And then I figured it out.
Write him a romantic letter!
When we first met, he was in college, and we were separated by a couple of hundred miles. I remembered that we wrote each other everyday he was away. And the anticipation I felt each day when I rushed each day to the mailbox to retrieve his letters.
In this day of email and texting, I think we sometimes forget how special a letter in the mail can be. Of course, he’s still sending me an email every day and I look forward to it everyday. And if I’d thought further ahead in this little challenge I was doing I would have mailed a letter to him.
Instead, I wrote him a note, put it in an envelope, and sat it under his coffee cup so he’d find it. The letter was a long list of things that I love about him. Twenty in all, and I’m not going to go into detail about what they were.
So what happened when he found it?
I got another hug, another deep kiss, and an “I’m so lucky to have you married you!”
Oh… And he made dinner last night.
I’m so glad that I started this and can’t wait to see what happens at the end of the 14 days.
Wish me luck and if you have comments or ideas for small romantic things to try – let me know. And if you want to see where I started make sure you check out Day 1 of the Romance Challenge.
