Mae West Hot Hollywood Vixen

Ten men waiting for me at the door? Send one of them home, I’m tired. Mae West

Mae West - I'm No AngelWhile searching for a quote the other day, I came across this one by Mae West. Born in 1893, she died in 1980. She was one of the original Hollywood vixens. Mae was not just an actress and a singer, but a successful playwright and screenwriter and known for her double entendres and sexual independence.

She wrote risque plays under her pen name of Jane Mast. Her first starring role on Broadway was in 1926 in a play she wrote, produced, and directed and she called it Sex. Eventually after numerous complaints from religious groups she was arrested along with the cast. Charged with ‘corrupting the morals of youth’, she served ten days in jail. Undaunted, and glad for the publicity, her next play was called The Drag and dealt with homosexuality.

Someday I just might write a book about a Mae West type character. Talk about spicy romance!

Check out the video and the quotes and see if you don’t agree that Mae West was a true vixen.
