“I think it’s time you found out just why it takes a woman so long to get ready,” Allison told him, grabbing his hand and pulling him into the room.

“You haven’t even showered yet, have you?”

“Nope.”

“Are you going to shower?”

She stared back at him with an incredulous look on her face. Was she going to shower? He had to be joking, she always showered. He knew that. On any given day he was the one that started reminding her to go shower. Usually two or three hours before he wanted them to go. And usually in a voice that somehow told her that she’d forget if he wasn’t there to remind her. Usually several times.

“Never mind. So you need to shower. Check. I’ll wait.”

Allison pulled him toward the master bath.

“You want me to watch?” he asked, his voice cracking.

The corners of her mouth twitched up. “Nope.”

“You want me to shower with you?” he asked her, reaching up and attempting to slide a hand inside her tee.

“Yep,” she said, pulling his hand out from under her shirt. “And remember,” she said, “We don’t want to be late. You made reservations, remember.”

“We could be a little late,” he said, trying to snake his hand up under her tee again.

Allison shook her head. “No. Remember I told you that you had no idea what it took for me to get ready. Well tonight, you’re going to find out. And how distracting it sometimes is when you offer to ‘help.’ Now come on, we’ve got a lot to do.”
